Don’t Let Dry Eyes Put a Damper on Your Day

We all lead busy lives and rely on our eyes for a lot of our daily tasks. However, when you start to experience dry eyes, it can impact both your productivity and your quality of life.

This is why we offer a myriad of different dry eye solutions so you can get back to enjoying your life without the threat of dry eyes. All you have to do is book an appointment with us, and we can help you with the rest.

What are Dry Eyes?

Dry eye is a term used to describe a variety of different eye conditions, all of which affect tear production.

Tears are made up of 3 different layers: a mucin layer, an aqueous (water) layer, and a lipid (oil) layer. Our eyes rely on these ingredients to keep our eyes hydrated and comfortable. If any of these layers are compromised, it can cause severe discomfort for your eyes. Some of the symptoms you can expect to experience can include:

  • Irritation, itchiness, and soreness.
  • A stringy discharge in and around the eye.
  • Overly watery or teary eyes.
  • Blurry vision.
  • Sensitivity to light.

What Can Increase the Risk of Dry Eyes?

Most of us will experience dry eyes at some point in our lives. Still, not all of us will experience the same symptoms, in part because our dry eyes will have different root causes. Some of the most common risk factors associated with dry eyes include:

  • Medications
  • Laser eye surgery
  • Eyestrain
  • Environmental factors
  • Medical conditions
  • Aging

Dry eyes can also be caused by a Demodex infestation on your eyelashes, meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, or even tear gland damage and blockages.

How Can We Help Your Dry Eyes?

There are several different types of medicated eye drops we can recommend to help you mitigate your dry eye symptoms.

If your dry eye symptoms are caused by problems with your eye’s surface, then you might benefit from autologous eye drops. These drops are produced by using a serum made from the patient’s blood, creating an eye drop to help manage dryness and pain caused by problems with the patient’s ocular surface.

We can recommend a variety of different warm compresses that you can apply to your eye area. When heated, these compresses can melt blockages in the meibomian glands that inhibit tear production.

Depending on what is causing your symptoms, we can also recommend medication to help your eyes produce the high-quality tears they need to be comfortable.

Keep Your Eyes Happy & Healthy

Dry, uncomfortable eyes can impact our productivity and quality of life. If you are looking for relief from your dry eye symptoms, look no further than Vision Dynamics, and book a dry eye appointment with us today!
