Optomap Retinal Imaging

Many optometrists dilate your eyes in order to fully evaluate their internal health. This has the effect of increasing light sensitivity and causing “fuzzy” vision for a few hours. Our office recommends a comprehensive exam utilizing OPTOMAP retinal imaging. This technology is useful in the detection of significant diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes and will provide a comprehensive assessment of the internal health of your eyes without causing temporary vision side effects. Your exam with OPTOMAP will include:

• A scan to assess the health of your eyes and diagnose disease.
• A view of the retina, giving your doctor a more detailed view than otherwise possible.
• The opportunity for you to view and discuss the OPTOMAP image with your doctor at the time of your exam.
• A permanent record which we use to view your images each year and look for changes.
